the anticipated release of the latest mix by LA/ SF/ CHI based DJ Shred One, a soul-experiential beat compilation of hip hop, r&b, and uptempo beats as an inspired homage to the female vocalist.

It is a story many women in music/ hip hop know too well. The female vocalist-musician too often found in the shadows casted by her male counterparts who stand center stage. Revered because the feminine presence often truly completes a song and her talents are lent in the selfless support of a male emcee, vocalist, producer. In The Bird and the Beat, DJ Shred One does right by these songbirds, collects their chorus, hooks and bridges to craft a satiating seamless blend for all mix tape aficionados and djs alike.

“The Bird and The Beat is a labor of love that was inspired by being a female dj, myself, in the sea of my male dj partners as well an intimate appreciation of the timeless sound of female vocals” Dj Shred One comments. “This mix is dedicated to those artists. It is my way of giving them their own musical moment in the sun.”

The mix features a cast made up the original gangsta golden age pipes of Vinia Mojica, Tammy Lucas, Caron Wheeler along with new school soul slanging singers Carlitta Durand, Jhene Aiko with special feature of both new and classic producers Onra, Taebeast, Dibiase, Prince Paul, Pete Rock, the RZA and several other heavy hitters on the roster.
